UltimaSerial How to Use ActiveX

What is ActiveX?

"ActiveX is the consumer brand name for all Microsoft COM-based technologies.... Tylenol is an easy-to-remember, more consumer-friendly brand name for a drug called Acetaminophen. In this same way, ActiveX is an easy-to-remember, more consumer-friendly name for COM. ActiveX certainly sounds much cooler than COM.

The reason so many people are confused by the name ActiveX is because the definition changed. Originally ActiveX was a brand name for all COM-based Microsoft technologies that had utility on the World Wide Web."

---- Alan Gordon (The COM and COM+ Programming Primer)

32 or 64-bit?

ActiveXs are 32-bit components, you must select 32-bit code option when using 64-bit compilers. Both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows runs 32-bit applications properly.

The following are step-by-step lessons on how to use ActiveX in various programming languages.

In the following lessons, we use Ultimaserial or DataqSDK ActiveX to demonstrate how to use ActiveX. Since UltimaSerial is discontinued, we removed the hyper links, but the technique still applies

Download DataqSDK It supports most DATAQ devices.
